A lovely memorial to Diana Wynne Jones, on his blog.

Somehow seems fitting for such a fine writer to be written about by another fine writer, who was also a friend.

Still not quite at a point where I'd want to write up a post of my own, but Diane Duane made an excellent one here, so that'll do for now.

I do believe the laptop (my main home computer since the large Mac died) just keeled over. So, today I worked on actual, like, physical object projects, namely my long-delayed new fleece blanket/bedspread (finished) and my steampunk skirt (still IP), among other crafty endeavors that have languished. I took lots of pictures, as did countessaleska, and Fry managed to end up in a lot of them.

( New bedspread, complete with beetles; cute kitty; and a side trip to South Park. )

Man, the news is always such a mixed bag. The same day that brought this cool headline:

also brought this one:

"Tim Hart of Steeleye Span dies in Spain at 61"

*sigh* I guess it's a greater metaphor for Life.

2009 continues to rack up its sad toll with the unexpected death of Robert Holdstock, at far too young an age, with far too many stories left untold.

I have to admit, I hadn't kept up on his recent work (due to a combo of finances, forgetfulness and, recently, trying to cut back the library for the move), but his Mythago Wood remains one of my all ( Read more... )
